Principals received a memo from the District concerning part-time teachers, what is the effect?

31-Aug-10 17:59

A: There has been a significant change in what was expected of a part-time teacher and it is a result of a policy grievance filed by our Local on December 7, 2006.

Friday, August 27, 2010 a memo was sent to principals indicating that part-time teachers cannot be required to perform more than fifty percent (50%) of the non-instructional duties that can be required of a full time teacher. For example: a part-time teacher would only be required to be attend Professional Development days, District Organizational days, Faith Day, Teachers Convention days and Parent/Teacher conferences on a .5 basis. Also a part-time teacher would not be required to do more than half (.5) of the supervisory duties or other assignable duties of a full time teacher.

Part-time teachers are encourage to ask their principal for a copy of the memo as there is more information concerning staff meetings. more
